School Council

Our school council meets weekly and is responsible for many events throughout the school year including organising our chosen charity.

This year every member of the school council in term 1 was able to nominate a charity to be considered to be our chosen charity.

The children then had to research the chosen charity and deliver a presentation to the rest of the school. Every child and member of staff was then given one vote in the school election to choose our school charity. The voting process was also discussed as being an important British Value of democracy. There was much debate as to whether each person in the school should have one vote and what to do in the event of a draw.

The chosen charity this year is GSR ELITE that was nominated by Arthur Jenkins who met a German Shepherd rescue dog called Bear at an event and was determined to raise the profile of the charity within school.

The school council organised a very successful cake sale and raised £76.11.

The next event that the school council helped to organise was a ‘make the rules’ day where the children go to ‘make the rules’ for the day. The children in the school council made very strong claims for some of the rules that they wanted to make for the day and negotiated with Mrs Gray as to which ones they could include. The money raised on the day was split between the PTA and Children in Need.
