"Positive relationships, based on examples from Christianity, are central to the flourishing of this school"

Church School

Christian Distinctiveness

Down Ampney C of E Primary School was established and funded by the church in the mid-1800s.

The school has a distinctively Christian character, which is reflected in our values and daily acts of Collective Worship in the school and the celebration of the Christian festivals of Harvest, Christmas and Easter in the parish church.

Members of the church community help tell Bible stories through ‘Open the Book’ assemblies and the vicar regularly leads Collective Worship. The Church of England appoints two Foundation Governors to sit on the governing body.

While the ethos of the school is based on clear Christian Values, we welcome families of different Faiths or none; and Religious Education in our school always includes teaching about other faiths.
