A thriving village school on the Gloucestershire and Wiltshire border. Do not hesitate to contact us if you would like more information or a personal tour of the school.
Last term the children had a visit from Puddle Ducks. They came to speak to us about water safety and the steps we must follow if we are in any danger around water. We looked at the different coloured flags we find on beaches and learnt what they meant. The children all loved meeting Puddle the duck!
As small schools we thrive by working together. Last term children from many small schools joined together weekly to play netball together. #smallschoolsport
Pupils in class 3 attended a webinar about the book Digging for Victory, written by Cathy Faulkner. After introducing herself she explained to the children that she was inspired to write the book after her time as a teacher and trying to teach her class about WW2 and how she could make it more interesting. Cathy read an excerpt from the story and showed some of the illustrations. Pupils were then asked to write their own start to the story, utilising some sentence starters provided by the author.
The children were kept busy with various activities related to the book finishing with a question and answer session.
This morning, children in Class 2 made their own torches that they designed. We were able to make connections with our science learning on how build working electrical circuits and use this knowledge to create a circuit fit for a torch. The children worked in small groups to meet the design brief and each group came up with different designs and ideas; showing their collaborative working. To finish, the children evaluated their final products and thought about what they would change next time.
Ice cream Fridays start tomorrow. Remember to bring your 50p to buy one after school!
